The toilet was clogged up so my brother put a snake in the toilet and he never did it before and stuck it in the wrong hole. We tried like hell to pull it out, but noting doing! So we removed the toilet and we are trying to decide whether or not to bust the toilet up and pull out the snake, because a neighbor owns the snake. Or we can just cut it off and leave it in, and pay the person for the snake and than we can just put the toilet back on with the cut off snake in it.
What should we do? Is this snake in the air hole (or whatever the hole is called) going to cause any kind of problems. Or is it woth forking out the hundred and some bucks for the new toilet?
Also, is it possible to just buy the toilet bowl, and disconnect the old tank and use it? (to save money)?

Okay, one thing I should clear up. This is a 2 year old Kohler toilet, which I assume to be double the cost of a low end American standard. Looks like the AM toilet(whole thing) runs about one hundred bucks, while the whole Kohler is probably at leat 200 bucks. So I assume the bowl for the Kohler may possibly be more expensive than the Whole AM toilet. Thats the thing.

Depending on how far down the toilet the snake is, you maybe able to retrieve the snake from out side. There should be an plumbers inspection hole you can open. With any luck you can pull the snake out that way.
The other thing try turning the snake the opposite way. If you are using a snake that you feed it though a machine there should be a reverse switch.
What ever you do don't cut the snake. Call a plumber instead. I know it going to cost you $$$$$$ but that is the better option

lol what you gonna do in the meantime till you get your answers?
Actually you will have to break the toilet and save the snake. You will hopefully will shut of the water to the toilet and sponge out the water from the basin. Then break it. Not all toilet reservoirs line up the same so you will need to buy the whole new toilet. You would have been better off calling a plumber since you didn't know what you were doing. It would have cost you around $90.00 to unclog the toilet.

The snake is most likely beyond repair, it has been twisted and pulling it would cause further damage, once they lose tension, they have to be replaced. You don't describe the type of snake, powered? auger? Linked? In any case it is most likely in the jet that cleans the bowl, if you can cut it off, you should not lose too much function. You still have a clog, if you're sure it is not the sewer line, get a toilet auger and keep your brother away from it.

You most likely didn't get hooked on the toilet anywhere with the snake. You got snagged somewhere in the plumbing underneath the floor. Smashing or removing the toilet won't do you any good either way. You're going to either have to figure out how to remove the snake from the plumbing or call a professional plumber (the choice I'd make). Either way, don't break your toilet! You don't have to!

your brother put a snake in the toilet? In that certain case, use the plunger to get the snake out of the wrong hole. then take the snake out and it should be fine. i think. if it doesn't, call in a plumber. it must be terrible that your toilet was clogged.

U KNOW A TOILET BOWL IS ABOUT $100, BUT YOUR NEIGHBOR IS WORTH MORE. U ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS PROPERTY WHEN U BORROW IT. GET A HAMMER AND BUST IT UP AND KEEP PEACE WITH THE PERSON ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE. GOD
BLESS
ADD ON. U KNOW A PLUMBER MAY CHARGE U A COUPLE HUNDRED AND U MAY STILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE BOWL

Cut off water ,drain tank,..... all that stuff. Remove nuts from base of toilet and lift. You might be able to remove the snake from the bottom without breaking anything or buying anything, except the wax seal to re-install it. Geez people, put the hammers away

If you can't get the snake out, cutting it off won't fix the toilet. Smash the toilet, and return the borrowed tools in good (and clean) condition.
