I'm a teenager, so the work 'love' in my age group is distorted to mean boyfriend of this week. But I have my own opinions.
Love is a word. A simple four-letter word cannot sum it up properly. But Love is a word that represents the thing that we all want so much. The feeling that you can't live without a person, that you are so close, but still not know what they are thinking all the time, that you want them to be happy at all costs. Love is attainable, but as you said, some people look so hard that they take the first available person instead of waiting for the true right.
I think it exists, but I don't think every person has a single soul-mate. Then no one would ever find one. I do think that there are many, many people that are capable of loving everything about you, and vice versa. It's just a matter of letting it come to you, rather than searching.
Love is one of those things that probably hits you in the face instead of leading you to it.

I think all is true, but it depends on the person. I think everyone interprets the meaning of love differently. Love is just a word used to describe a feeling, and everyone sees love differently, and feels it differently. And there are some people who have not found it yet, or will never find it at all, and they will interpret it differently than those who have. And based on ones experience they had with love, that will also determine how they interpret it.

It seems to be you have the word 'love' mixed up with bonding, dependency, the better half, neediness, possessiveness, familiarity, relationship addiction, ownership, etc. There is only one Love and all we can to is share in that Love. If you come know that Love, you will know that you are never alone. God is Love & that's all there is; all else is but an illusion.

Love is not an external thing but it dwells within. Once you realize it it doesn't go away nor increases or decreases but stays like an illuminating light. It's rare but attainable by all means. Love is everlasting but the object of love should also be everlasting or eternal I think.

no.love is real but it is not just.that is not to say it's soley unjust but that part contamination warrants the fact that it's not just. it is inherent in each of us, the harsh, cold world just finds a way to steal it from us in various way so that by the time we're ready to give it away, it is so flawed it seems unreal...it seems like an iilusion, not a reality. we donnot strive to find love, love finds us...any other notion about that is foolhardy!

What is Love?
Love is in Threes
(Matthew 24:12) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
(1 Corinthians 13:4 - 7) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
(Agape) Agape: the unconditional, perfect love that God has for us as his own. (1 Corinthians 13:8) Love never fails.
(phileo) Phileo: an affection, "brotherly love" or
"a Family Love"
(Eros) often eros Creative, often sexual yearning, love, or desire: “The new playful eros means that impulses and modes from other spheres enter the relations between men and women” (Herbert Gold).
Psychiatry. Sexual drive; libido.
The sum of all instincts for self-preservation.
The love of a wife or girlfriend or boyfriend or husband or a sexual love.
(1Jo 4:8) He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
NOTE: God is Love.
(1Jo 4:16) And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
God the Father is Perfect Love of which we should do our best to obtain.
(1Jo 4:7) Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
(1Jo 4:12) No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
No other man in history but Jesus has taught us about Love. How to live in it and become it. And if one can achieve this he will be come as God is. A Child of God Through his son Jesus the Christ, Son of God the Father Almighty.
(Jhn 6:44) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
To get to perfection one must go through the Son first to get to the Father and by this acceptance of the Son and what he did, one becomes family and so has the privalage to be with the Father as the Father is therefore you will be.
Hope this answeres your question.

to littleone , please don't generalise, not all men think that it's just a word!!!it's just like some men think that all women are weak!!!
love is a feeling that makes the strong weak and the weak strong.
it is a relationship and not just sexual one only.
it's about that special someone that makes you willing to give your all your everything .
but you've got to kiss an awful lot of toads before you get your prince charming ,and if you don't get disillusioned first.
God bless,
gabe

Philosophically, sure. Love is no more or less "just" than any other emotion if used in the proper context.
