I asked my close friend's husband who is a jeweler if he could make my fiance's wedding rings (I'm getting him 2 that link together, symbolic of 2 people in a relationship:). I thought it would save money and be more personal.

I bought the rings I wanted in silver and sent them to him, asking for platinum.

He took about 3 months to make them, which didn't bother me; I just wanted to have them in plenty of time for christmas. But I got them today, and they can't be platinum, right? They were $600 for starts, and secondly, they look yellowish.

I am SO embarassed that he spent all this time making them (I mean they really are VERY simple plain rings, though!), and they don't look anything like I envisioned.

What do I do? Do I call him? He doesn't respond to email ... should I talk to my friend, his wife, and ask her to ask him? What should I say???

If the rings really bother you, I would approach him. I know it may be tough but that's the way you have to go sometime. If a person colored your car the wrong color, I'm sure you would approach them. It may be worth the 2 minutes of being nervousness instead of spending the rest of your life knowing that you wanted to give him a different style ring. I'm pretty sure he will realize his mistake.

Friend or not you got screwed and he lied. Platinum is should not look yellowish. The price is not right because the metal is not right. If you don't call him and find out what he did then you are going to be upset for years and it will ruin your friendship. If you contact him and his wife, your friend gets mad then too bad for her. You don't deserve to get ripped off and especially not from your friends husband. You should also get your money back and send back the rings if they are not what you want just like you would for any jeweler.

Tell him that they are not quite what you were looking for. Maybe find a picture of what it is you wanted and let him know. I'm sure that he didn't spend all night and day of those three months working on your rings. He probably finished some other projects before starting on yours. Just tell him how you feel and I'm sure he'll fix the problem. Next time go to a reputable jeweler.

definitely u should call him and also his wife cuz u paid the money he doesn't give that for free right...Why r u hesitating to ask that..u must ask him regarding this. Also check with other jewellers whether this is a original one or something else.

If he doesn't respond to his email means make a call, if he doesn't attend the call means go straight to his home and ask..ok

They are not platinum... my boyfriend bought my platinum diamond earrings and they were VERY expensive. Much more than that. Personally, I would ask for a refund and go to a jeweler you know is trustworthy... Kay Jewelers, I recommend... don't sacrifice your future husbands happiness for a few friends. They are replaceable.

If all else fails, call Judge Judy.
