It was never able to take root in the U.S. like it was in other countries. Football and baseball sprang up before soccer ever could. Also, many Americans have the perception that soccer is boring, and that is why they don't give it a chance. And to the guy above, uh..wow. We do drive on the right, just so you know.

I think football (soccer) is popular in the world except in the U.S and its territories because not everyone in U.S and its territories like football (soccer) at all

I think that's true because Americans have many other sports to worry about. Our pasttime is baseball and our T.V. watching sports are football and basketball. I'm sure in other countries, their pasttime is soccer, but not in America. For some reason, there are more main sports in America. That's the truth...See Ya.

because americans dislike watching a guy run 3 miles to the other side of the field once every 20 mins and then miss a goal. too many lulls in the action.

because its basically a British sport, and Americans still don't like anything associated with the UK. They are still ticked off about the British being able to tax them 400 years ago.

the same reason american cars are driven on the left side rather than the right and why america still uses "miles" while everyone else uses kilometers...because the USA dosent want to assimilate.
