I always go with the females.
1.I am a guy. I know what guys think. So I like to see how the women do things when it is their turn.
2.I've read way too many mysteries where the main character was a guy, and they are always the same, it gets stoopid.
3.Usually women detects are funnier.

That would depend on the author and how the story is written. So far, I've read Agatha Christie's mystery novels with Det. Hercule Poirot. I wouldn't mind reading a mystery novel if the detective was a female.

i'm a woman and that i might incredibly examine books with male protagonists. no longer because of the fact I choose adult men. often woman protagonists have a tendency to be slightly stressful. additionally in maximum plots, a male character is sweet. good woman characters are super even though it incredibly is annoying to hit upon a e book the place the "good woman character" does not gripe approximately adult men getting all the credit etc. whilst a e book will become a womens rights assertion, it incredibly is rattling stressful. I take exhilaration in books with woman protagonists as long because of the fact the full novel isn't super assertion approximately how women human beings can do something adult men can. it incredibly is stressful and overdone. adult men do no longer care to envision those books for an analogous motives i do no longer care to, i believe. it is not reason they do unlike woman protagonists. it incredibly is the actuality that authors often fail at writing them. it isn't the article it incredibly is the project, it incredibly is the authors.
