I'm thinking that such a program would benefit us all and force insurance companies to compete with a more diverse pool of wage earners than our current system. Prices for health care are killing our manufacturing based industries and our citizens alike. Can I get a Hellyah?

---"Employer-based coverage is melting away like a Popsicle on the sidewalk in August," said Sen. Ron Wyden, a member of the Senate Finance subcommittee on health care. _____

Already you have no choice who your provider is, your employer makes that choice, and may change it every year, along with having to change your drugs and doctor.

Because small employers are at the mercy of the companies, they can get socked with very high costs for older workers. The result is that the older worker not only does not get the coverage he needs more than most, but to add injury to injury he doesn't get the job either!

I think it is a problem to leave insurance involved in the job, as most jobs where people do not have insurance, they might still not be able to afford it.

But a cost leveling and a way to keep insurance companies from cherry picking, and then abusing their customers, has got to be an improvement.

So yes I would call for a yes vote!

Seems to me that this type of plan will give a select number of insurers windfall profits just as the Medicare drug plan does. It will limit workers choices and allow greater profits for corporations. I don't mind paying premiums, but, I'd like to see that money going into a universal type of health care with those who earn more paying more and those earning less paying less or nothing. There also should NOT be spending caps in treatments. The mother of my granddaughter's friend recently died because her insurance had capped out after lengthy cancer treatment. Disgusting.

Actually, Hellnah. I'm still against this form of health care in general. We need to switch over to a centralized health care system like the rest of the modern world. Health insurance companies should then be fined, jailed, and be forced to contribute to society in a helpful way.

Vote NO!!!!!! This is very bad!!!! It would require that employers "cash out" their existing health plans by terminating coverage and paying the amount saved directly to workers as increased wages. Workers then would be required to buy health insurance from a large pool of private plans. Witch would be more then your employer was paying! And for the people who don't work, it would be coming out of the working people, making them poorer. Then you get a bigger gap between the rich and poor. VERY BAD!!!!!!
