Is atrocity necessary for the advancement of society, or can we move onwards and upwards without it? Does it do people good to get out of control and do questionable things occasionally, or is it bad for everyone when it happens? Is real justice ultimately in the hands of the common man, or is that the last place you'll find it?

A lynching is not a democracy. All those people believe in one ideal. That's why we have juries made up of 12 people. So you get an overall view about the subject from several people that think differently, openly and objectively. I think it would sprial downwards if society would let things like this keep happening just as we have stopped it in the past. That is exactly why we did. It was wrong. It's up to the justice system to decide. When atrocity prevails people run around fearful in there everyday lives. That is no way to live. North Korea and Darfur are only 2 good examples why this should not be.

Violence is becoming an unnecessary way of life, a nuisance if you will. The conflicts of the 21st century have shown that there is no longer the easy fix to disagreements as is shown by Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine to name but a few. It is without question that as a race we will always have disagreements, but the futility of the current conflicts does more for the argument against violence than for it. There is a common view, if as yet unproven in the long run that democracies don't attack other democracies, so I cannot see how it would do these nations good.

Look at the Klu Klux Klan and answer for yourself. Sorry, I know this is hardly a discussion but I have just driven for nearly four hours through thick fog and my brain hurts.
