They are acctually only 99.5% effective and I know 2 people that got prego using them.
My cousin and her fiance used 2 and it was their first time ever for both of them and they ended up with twins.
And I am the other but I think my hubby put holes in it cuz he wanted another one.

Providing that the condom doesn't split or fall off during sex they can be probably one of the safest contraception to use at around 98% effective. Do buy the more expensive ones that have been tested and not some cheap ones you can find in condom machines down the local pub. Durex or mates are probably the best or if you're in America then Trojan are one of the better brands. It can be quite off putting during sex checking every now and then making sure that the condom is still in place but certain positions can pull the condom off. If your partner is either on the smaller or larger size this can also effect it. If you are both still wary about becoming pregnant then you can also use a spermicide along with using the condom but NEVER use any kind of lubricant that is oil based as this can effect the latex and will damage the condom.
Sex is a wonderful act but make sure you're safe.

Statistically better than 90%, maybe 95. If you go to Durex or trojan condom websites, I think they have the info there. This is way better than many other methods like sponges etc.
Also condoms help prevent disease when used properly and no other birth control form can do that.
PROPERLY is the key to how well they work for either though.
Buy Durex (my personal favorite) or Trojan and avoid other brands and machine condoms.
follow box directions for putting them on. There are websites that show how as well.
Make sure it fits. They are not very relaible if you are very small (less than about 4") or very big, unless you get the large size ones. If you are uncut, putting them on is trickier, but they still work. I am and they do fine. Just make sure this foreskin is out of the way. The condom should be snug (there are also slim ones, if you are thin down there) but not uncomfortably tight. they should not be loose so don't use a magum size if you are average. Average is a big range and standard condoms are for most men.
Genrally if you are 4 to 9 inches or so the regular ones work. If you are really big around (girth) then a magnum may work best.
I am on the large size of avg in length and width and do fine with regular size.
Remember :Snug not tight, never loose. Buy good quality ones.
Finally: Never!!! use oil or petroleum based lubes on them. they weaken them rapidly. Use only water based lubes, like durex play or KY
If it breaks stop and put another on.

Average use of a condom is 85% effective however this is with couples who don't use them all the times or follow the rules. They are about 95% effective if used perfectly. I have never known anyone to get pregnant with perfect use. A lot of couples who use them a lot think maybe they can't get pregnant so they stop using them therefore come the 85%. Just follow all the guidelines. Trojancondoms.com has good information.

Yup, I have a friend who had her 2nd kid while on the pill and using condoms. Condoms are typically 85% effective when used properly. There are a lot of people who don't know how to use them, so that makes them even less effective.

SO i could say ninety 9% , there may be continuously continuously achievable of having pregnant having intercourse, even nonetheless for the main part, be unhazardous, think approximately your pill, and continuously use condoms marvelous and verify they are the spermicidal onces, that kills the sperm, and we've had our errors previously than w/ condom slip americabut then you certainly've got the pill for backup.
