I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the different British money amounts and what they translate into for American money?

What about shillings? Are they like pennies or less than pennies, and how many make a dollar?
Thank you so much - I'm moving to England soon and was really worried since I know a US dollar doesn't go as far in pounds or Euros.

Currently the exchange rate is: 1.9646 American Dollars to every British Pound.
To convert American Dollars to British pounds divide the Dollar amount by 1.9646
To Convert British Pounds to American Dollars multiply the amount by 1.9646

For American to British pounds you lose half such as If you have 100 dollars you will have 50 pounds. Opposite for pounds to dollars. 200 pounds/ 400 dollars. Check here for an exact exchange rate.
