im leaving for hawaii and need to call home and talk to my friends etc. who dont have cingular.

Yes, we have cingular service here. With some plans, you will accrue roaming charges when you use your wireless phone outside of your service area. With these plans, when a call is made outside of your service area, airtime and roaming charges for the call will appear on your bill. Cingular has many rate plans where there is no additional charge for roaming. If you would like information on rate plans, please go to:

Yes. Cingular works in Hawaii. But most people have Verizon as it was the landline up till 1 yr ago (familiarity). Also, Verizon and Sprint are the only two with Broadband data services in Hawaii. Cingular is 18-24 mo away.

Depending on your rate plan you shoudn't be charged extra

If you are a nation wide plan there will not be any roaming in the united states.
