and please dont say its because of a lack of time. Then you would have to explain South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Israel.

Your question has the underlying assumption that being a technologically advanced is desirable to all cultures. Perhaps the sub-saharan cultures (or at least the governing elites) do not want technical advancement. I suspect that the governing elites do enjoy a better standard of living than ordinary citizens in more 'advanced' countries, so the status quo works for them.

Note: I presume that you mean only the countries bordering the Sahara. Some of the countries farther south are doing quite well.

Asian countries, on the whole, were not colonized by Europe the way African countries were. An exception might be The Phillipines. How is the Phillipines' standard of living?

Over the centuries, since the days of Columbus and other explorers, Europe and the Americas have raped and robbed sub-Sahara Africa of its resources, including its strongest people via slavery. Such treatment has lingering effects even up until today.

Also, I think African peoples tend to be less individualistic than Europeans or Asians. Africans value community more, rather than one person rising above another. (I think American Indians tend to have those same values.) When African peoples are flourishing and doing well, they make sure the poorest of the poor are well off and taken care of. Unfortunately, when they are oppressed by outsiders, and their wealth compromised and taken away, their sense of community gets warped so that they might hold back or pull back those individuals who could rise above the rest. I'm sure you've heard the analogy of the crab trying to escape the pail and being pulled back by the other crabs.

Israel is a poor example. It was established in 1948 with great help from outside sources like the UN, the USA, and Great Britain, and supported by those outside sources, and settled largely by European Jews. (Of course, one might complain about Palestinians being colonized and impoverished...) BTW, I support Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state, but this is no excuse to oppress the Arabs among them, even if they are threatened by the Arabs outside of them.

The cause of the suffering in africa are the people who live in africa. So called colonialization prevented much of this suffering with enlightened leadership. Now that it's gone and the vestiges of that leadership is waning, things are turning bad. Zimbabwe is the example of things to come as the last vestiges of what you call "colonialization" are disappearing. I do not in any way think that the UN should stick its nose into this. It is important for africa to suffer the consequences of these things. Rather, I think all whites should be evacuated from africa (because, as Zimbabwe makes clear, genocide is in the works for them if they stay). I think that all foriegn aid to the continent should end and that the place should be sealed off for the next few generations. Let whatever is going to happen, happen there without interference.

Lol, I think most nations are developed like South Africa. I think it's like the 22 richest nation in the world by GNP.

Also what they lust after and the things you do is different. America measure success by money, with is the opposite of many people on the continent. Maybe they know something we don't because people always tell me you can't take none of that with you when you die.

you indeed are very ignorant
get a passport and travel.
i suggest you head for the republic of south Africa
(which by the way is not a third world country and is in sub-saharan Africa)
well, i guess,if you could afford to travel, you wouldn't be asking this question, so i suggest, since you do not own your own computer(or you wouldn't be so ignorant) , you rush to the local library and use their books and computers to do some research.
you've been watching way too much Tarzan!

the countries you mentioned where never colonized by "you know who" and did not have their resources exploited to better the western world .
(blood diamonds to mention a few!)

Your definition of "Development" is different from what "development" is in Sub-Saharan countries. One day without a gun shot, and enough food for the season is ENOUGH developed for them. They don't need high tech machines, or Hummers driven in the desert. This is how they lived 1000+ years ago and how they live today.

They're still trying to get past colonization. Some have only had independence for a decade or two. I say give them time and see first.

How about lack of resources? When you don't have food, how can you afford to pursue technology?
