Might Sentor Obama's popularity also stem from the fact that he is half white? He is the product of a Black Kenyan father and a White American mother. The good senator is a perfect candidate to inspire minorities, the poor, immigrants, etc. because of his otherness (blackness). He is also familiar (i.e. comfortable) to middle/upper class whites because he is their brother as well - his momma's people reared him. Senator Obama is the classic American success story - the son of an immigrant who made it to the hallowed halls of federal power. He is a PR dream. I just hope he waits until 2016 to run...he's not ready for 2008.

You may be right, but, I believe that most Americans can see between any racial divide and vote for the best candidate. He is smart and articulate, a quality that we look at while voting, and additionally and most important, his public service record. BUT, nothing should be racial, that would be scary if we all fell into the premise of the past. Right now in my view, he hasn't got his feet wet and is inexperienced to govern our country, He is just a freshmen in Congress, but, he could become a President in the future.

Very little. If anything his mixed race background is a hindrance to his popularity on a national level. Also, the name "Obama" is a political negative in a nation who's enemy #1 is the eerily similar Osama.

I would say zero...if you have heard him, he is known for being very inspiring to his followers...he's not white, so minorities like him, but he is very logical so whites like him too
