I'm in football (highschool) and we had a workout today first we did tire pulls (we run with a string attached to a circular thingy around our shoulders and waist and then we had to lift weights. Ok first i did military press and after i did the second set of 10 my left arm started to cramp. Then later when i did crunches i got a cramp in my abs. And just to make it worse my left leg started to cramp when i was lifting (its kind of like dead lift but the weights are in front of you). Then i started cramping on the other leg it was killing me and i got the coach all yellin at me. I know he's trying to help me but idk he thinks everyone is cramping but when i started to cramp it was the worst feeling. Why did i cramp up? Maybe its cuz i haven't worked out in 2 weeks (i was in Ohio visiting my Granpa which passed away 2 days after we got there..)

this sounds very much like dehydration which resulsts in depleted levels of sodium or potasium, either way this can be very serious and can result in death. u should see your doctor

Try not eating anything with wheat - better yet, any grain- in it for a while. I had the same thing happening, was in pain for a couple years, and then found out my cousin had been diagnosed with a wheat senistivity - not celiac and not an allergy. I cut out all wheat and then grains, and the muscle pain went away completely. Speak to your doctor about this - they will send you to an allergist first, and then you should go to a nutritionist. But seriously - this is happening to a lot of people I know, and it is either a mineral imbalance or a food intolerance.

Two words for you...hydration and conditioning. Did you participate in football this past season? If so, did you have problems with cramping then? Body comp plays a big role. Do you know your body fat %? Make sure to eat well and hydrate before you work out. Try to drink enough to where you have to urinate frequently. Your urine should be clear, meaning little to no yellow color to it. If cramps persist, see your certified athletic trainer (you guys had best have one) and he/she will be able to give you proper guidance.

This sounds crazy but I know several coaches that require their team to do this and they swear by it. Drink pickle juice! They buy gallons of pickles and the team drinks the juice and they sell the pickles at concession. Drink about an ounce or two.

Or you might need potassium suppliments. And of course, drink plenty of water!

check your water intake bro... if you aren't putting the H2O your body needs down the old pipe, you will start to sieze up. you might notice this happening at night as well...you will wake up with an extremedy totally deadlocked....water and streching should do the job.
