My 7 year old is wanting a psp for christmas and the avg price I am seeing is 249.00 for a set that comes with two games, or just the system itself for 199.99.

if you can find them for that cheap... GOOD LUCK! if you can find them... kudos to ya! I know a little about the psp so just incase, let me fill you in.
the psp is actually not for the younger crowd. the games are directed for the older person, most of the movies are too.
another thing, those things have alot of pixels on them. the manafacturer will NOT fix them unless its like 45% pixel damage within a year! Thats almost half of the screen before they do anything about it. I would buy the extra service plan because if its even 1 pixel out, struck by lightning, something enternally wrong for the next 2-4 years, you get to exchange it for a brand new psp that day... Best Buy will also give you the difference on a gift card. say you buy it for 249 and in 1 year its 149.... you get a 100 giftcard for what ever you want!
with that being said, I dont reccommend it to your 7 year old unless they are very mature for their age and would take care of it. Also, monitor his games and movies. The ds or game cube/nintendo sort of stations are more suitable for a 7 yr old.
if you would rather not take my advice, you might get them on ebay for a cheaper price, but I dont think that its worth it. Not electronical devices anyway.
