I live in Texas and love playing Texas Hold 'Em, but was wondering who called it that? Why Texas??

Well, poker can be played in many forms, but the Hold'em version was believed to have been first played in Robstown, Texas, somewhere around 1900. It gained a lot of popularity in Dallas in the 1920's. If you're curious about the Hold'em part of the name, it's origin is somewhat a mystery as well. However, one theory is that Life magazine, in the 1960's, published an article about poker, with one variation of the game being called "Hold Me Darling" poker, which was shortened by some to Hold Me poker and eventually just got turned into Hold'em.

I don't know, but I'll bet that if you guessed either Amarillo Slim or Texas Dolly, Doyle Brunson you wouldn't be too far off.
