An instrumental instrument? I play 4 instruments, and they are all pretty instrumental to me...

But to answer your question, it really only helps little kids, if you're an adult, your brain finished it's forming stage, therefore classical music won't have much effect, unless you enjoy listening to it.

it does not make you smarter if you're older... when children under 3 listens to music like that... it helps their mind develop better.. but it doesnt mean they get smarter (you never know)...as for adults.. listening to classical music helps you relax your mind.. hence you'll be able to concentrate more and makes you look like ur smarter...

maybe at and early age (less than 2 i think). otherwise like right now i deem it useless to listen to it for a higher IQ.
