Ever since my baby was born, I've used vaseline @ every diaper change. Now @ 8 1/2 months, he appears to be getting his first diaper rash. I have been using vaseline on it. I do have some samples of Aveeno & Desitin. What do you use for your baby's diaper rash?

Desitin is the best. They have the ingredients in them to take care of it once they already have it. What you;ve been doing was good to prevent, but now that he has it you should use the cream.

I've used balmex, but it's the clear kind, not the paste. It's pretty similar to vaseline, but it seems to work a bit better. For tricky diaper rash, I'd use Buttpaste. It works WONDERS! And the reason I prefer it over Desitin is b/c it will actually wipe off. I felt with Desitin that it just sat on the skin and when I'd bathe her, I'd have trouble getting it off. With buttpaste, it goes on like a paste, but typically at her next diaper change it'd be absorbed...which is what I think it should do. There was always a clear, sort of vaseline like clear layer on top which helps seal moisture but the rest would rub in.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste!!! I live in Southern Louisiana and thats all we use down here...let me tell ya, the stuff works! Im not sure if you can get it outside of La., but if you can you should try it. (www.buttpaste.com) If not, Balmex or Desitin will work fine, and if the diaper rash gets really bad you should be able to call your Dr and get a prescription for nystatin which will get rid of even the most severe rash FAST!! The best thing for diaper rash is air so if you can leave off a diaper for a little bit im sure your baby will appreciate it. Good luck!

I used vaseline from the get go too, and she did get diaper rash.....I used Desitin, it works wonders. Also, if you are able, let him run around without a diaper for a little bit...that way he can "air out" a little and won't have to be rubbed where he has the diaper rash.

I use Zincofax original from Wal Mart. It works really well and you can see the rash is going away by the next day. Vaseline is O.k to use to prevent a diaper rash but it does nothing if the baby has one. You need to use something specifically for diaper rash.

I always used baby powder at every changing, just to help soak up urine, and at the first sight of redness or "spots" I used desitin and it went right away. They never really had a full blown diaper rash. Of course one time I thought my daughter did and it turned out she was allergic to this one brand of diapers.

I loved Butt Paste. It worked great. And as a back up I used Desitin. Make sure you air out your babies bottom in between diaper changes. Air really helps. Also I soaked my son in a warm bath with a little bit of baking soda when it got really bad. Good luck.

We tried to go with the most natural...
We tried aveeno, this caused a diaper rash.
we tried balmex for a long time. This seemed to work well, but eventually the kids started to react to it.
we have tried butt paste, seemed fine for one child but not the other.
and now we are using a completely natural product from Germany sold in a health food store:Weleda baby.
I am not sure if it is the petroleum base of the other products that caused the problem or what, but the natural one seems to work well now.
Good luck!

I love desitin. It is by far my favorite. I always put it on my baby to protect her from getting a rash. And it works FAST. Good luck
