You put them neatly in a box and a year later they've turned into a siver and gold glittery ball of muddle that you have to pick through with tweezers and a shed load of patience.
Do they secretly practice yoga the other eleven and a half months of the year just to pee us off?

Lol agree with you, maybe they are breeding! or the stores design them that way, to make us pay for new ones. Once packet is opened, shelf life expiry date magically expires. So unless you invest in re-packaging machine, about 250k. Just get new ones :)

Oh No! Apparently you have just caught them in mating season! They do that after the 11.5 months of yoga!
My mum's trick that I still use to keep them from becoming fornicatingly intwined is to put each strand of garland, each run of lights in their own little bag. Glass ornaments go back into their little box, and the others in manageable size carry away bags. It actually works. And the best part, they aren't going to reproduce if you decide to to off to some distant lands for a year. It happened to me and I had three times the ornaments I needed this year!

That's just hysterical. We store our Christmas decorations in the garage (clean garage). I wondered the same thing until 2 years ago. I was digging through the big plastic green storage box, (you know, the huge ones) and everything was shredded. I got to the bottom of the box and found a dried up dead mouse! Now I'm going to make my husband muck through it. Merry Christmas!

Ha ha, it's exactly the same thing as how when you put a load of washing in the machine you always manage to find that one half of a pair of socks has somehow disappeared. It's just one of those unknown mysteries of the world :-)

Yes. And how do tree lights manage to burn out at the same time, when they aren't even plugged in?

Ha, ha, I think you are right. Just like the toys that come alive when we're not in the room.
