I am interested in knowing...

what are the cities (besides those listed above) that you can live in without relying on a car but can exclusively use public transportation?

Pittsburgh. PA has EXCELLENT public transportation that's why college students love it here so much it's just really easy to get around without a car.

Pittsburgh has large public transportation even nonetheless it gets chilly in the wintry climate. Washington DC is tremendously good too. San Francisco is the terrific the place it would not get snowy. yet you need to be in the city of San Francisco.

Houston, Texas has a wonderful new "light-rail" transportation system. They also have buses, but it is a slower method of transportation around the large city.

Definitely San Francisco.
San Francisco was laid out and built before the auto dominance era we have had in the US since World War II.
So there are bus and streetcar lines that are decades old, there is BART (subway)

They have Uber (https://uber.com/invite/yphmi) in most major cities now - which is much more affordable than taking taxis - but very similar as far as convenience :) The phone app even allows you to track how far away your ride is, once they are dispatched!

Denver has a good light rail system that is new and up to date.
