When administering an epidural during labour, how many bottles of Saline should be used? And should the same needle be used for a second time from the tray with the other discarded items used?

Just one.
The saline is really only there to flush the line and keep it ready for use, you're not actually getting a saline infusion.

No, you shouldn't re-use any kind of needle, or anything else which starts out sterile.... but whyever would you want to put up an epi line, twice?

There is no "fixed amount " of saline that you give. it depends on why you are giving the saline. if it is justr to keep the drip open without clotting, then it can be given very slowly , e.g. one liter over 24 hours. if it is given for hydration in a woman who isn't taking anything by mouth, then something like 1 liter every six to eight hours would be appropriate. if given for a very low blood presssure , then someone might give it over 10 to 20 minutes. So it highly varies.
The second part of the question is not clear. What needle are you reffering to ? In general , you do not re use needles. It might injure someone or if given to another patient , transmit disease.

im not sure about the fluids, but the needle can be used twice because it is inserted into a sheeth/tube that has already been inserted into your body. No other needle should be used twice because once used becomes blunter and more painful. but in this case as the needle is not directly puncturing your skin it should be ok, although im not sure if it would be considered good practice.
hope this helps
