Tylenol PM contains the active ingredients acetminophen and dipenhydramine, which is the same as Benadryl, an allergy medicine that also makes you drowsy as a side effect.

Both ingredients are considered very safe in pregnancy. So Tylenol PM is okay, but I wouldn't take it too often. Sleep aids can be habit forming, too.

Also, note that you should never take 1,000 mg of acetaminophen at one time when you are pregnant, only a maximum of 700 mg at a time. So don't ever take 2 extra-strength Tylenol, just take ONE or else two regular strength.

I would ask your doctor. I was getting about 2 hours of sleep a night because I was waking up to go to the bathroom and couldn't fall back asleep. My doctor let me take a tylenol PM. Ask your doc first though. I was further along than you when I started taking it.
