here's the thing about men:
that's their way of saying they like you....

Look, you can ignore his comments because you know it isn't true, which makes him the retard, he's saying things that both of you know aren't true. Work hard and get good grades and brag about it in front of him. So what! Well, I hope you're all right, I mean physically hurting somebody is unacceptable behaviour, if the teacher doesn't care, then report it to the office. It's serious, if you keep silent about it, then he'll just keep on doing it. Your silence is a bully's best friend. Report him to the office, the bruise is evidence, they will go into this. But your teacher is right too, don't let what he says bother you. Just keep your head high, you haven't done anything that's shameful. You can also get together with some friends and avoid this person, if he keeps going your way, you still have your friends beside you. Then, of course, you could take up a martial arts class. I'm not telling you to fight him of anything, just make sure you are able to defend yourself. Also, inform your parents, they will help you!

Tell your parents (or some adult you trust) about what happened. They may complain to the teacher or the principal.
If the bully bothers you outside of the classroom, like in the cafeteria, you can do what I did when I was a kid:
There was a mean boy who bothered me each day. I noticed that some teachers who watched us gave me the "don't let it bother you" line, while others were more strict. The next time the boy hassled me I reported him to the strictest teacher I could find. The mean boy got in BIG trouble and never bothered me again.
Another thing I did was take Karate lessons. I never had to beat anyone up, but as I got good at it I knew I could protect myself and other people seemed to notice and left me alone.

First, tell your parents (or whatev...how old are you, by the way?) and include the part about the "don't let it bother you" thing. That's a horrible teacher you've got. What kind of teacher would say that?
Anyways, then, keep in mind that he probably likes you and the bruise is like a scar of eternal love for him or something stupid like that. Afterwards, ignore him, see how he reacts. If he backs off, he likes you. If he get even more mad, you've obviously did something to the boy...or he likes you.
Good luck!

If your teacher isn't being receptive to the Bullying then go to someone that WILL listen, A parent, principal, guidance counselor, anyone.
Leaving a bruise is abuse. It can be handled with police or law suit, if need be. I wouldn't suggest taking such legal matters right away, but he should be told to leave you alone and then if that doesn't help, take the next step.
If your parents were to confront his parents, it would be best to do this at school or over the phone. Many bullies learn the behavior at home.

maybe this guy likes you...he sounds immature and probably isn't capable of expressing himself in any other way.
