I was told at the ER the other night that i may have a blighted ovum. I went to the doctor the next day and he said that it is just too early to see the baby. My lmp was October 13, and the ultrasound only shows me to be 6 weeks 3 days. I had my hcg levels ran at the ER and they were 24000. I had them ran at the doctor, 2 days later on Monday and they were 26000. I called today to get my results from the blood drawn on Wednesday and it has went down to 22000. Has this happened to anyone else? My doctor isn't avaiable until Monday and I am just looking for some answers from people who have gone through this.

I have had a blighted ovum before, along with two other miscarriages.

OH my crystal. I am so sorry to hear that. I would suggest that you see a specialists like a RE Reproductive endocrinoligists to find out why this keeps happening to u.

Crystal with your BETA going down that most likely means taht you are Loosing your pregnancy. I have lost a total of 7 pregnancies and my heart goes out to you. Crystal the dr might not be in till monday however, you can have your dr paged by the call center that picks up his calls when hes not there in the evenins and weekends. I would tell him you need some answers and help now. I hope and pray that I am wrong but thats usually what a dropped beta means. HUGS babysdust and best of luck dear.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. I haven't had a blighted ovum, but I have had a miscarriage, and my hcg levels dropping meant that the body was no longer working to create a baby. I'm not a doctor and can only speak from my experience.

Two suggestions would be to check webmd.com or call a nurse helpline with your insurance.

Most importantly, I will be praying for you as deal with all of this stress. I remember when we lost our baby how devastated we were, and I remember all of the doctors visits before and after. I didn't want to lose my baby, and then when I did, we were crushed. Having to go and check hcg levels again and see the doctor just made it that much harder.

There is hope however. We now have a beautiful little miracle boy who is 2, completely adorable, and very healthy. I will pray that this happens for you, even with this pregnancy.

Could be a miscarraige but you should wait a few more days before agreeing to a D&C or to see if you bleed and then get another hcg level. The sensitivity of the test could possibly have caused the so-called decrease. Only time will tell. This must be a really hard time for you. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. You will be in my thoughts. Good luck to you. Someday you will hold a baby in your arms and tell him/ her how you wanted them so much. <>

This answer may be too late. You may already know if this is a blighted ovum or not, but it doesn't sound good to me. Any drop in the HCG levels is not a good sign. I wish you the best.

Don't take any chances, go over to your local emergency
room, again. Explain everything you've said here, especially
the part about the miscarriages and blighted ovum.
INSIST THEY DO ANOTHER BLOOD TEST.
BE SURE AND LET THEM KNOW YOUR DOC IS NOT IN UNTIL
MONDAY AND THAT FOR YOU AND YOUR BABY"S HEALTH
YOU NEED SOME ANSWERS.

i myself hate to respond to this because of the fact the respond isn't what you're hoping for. A reducing HCG point exhibits the being pregnant isn't practicable. i anticipate you have your point checked back. you ought to initiate bleeding as quickly because it drops slightly greater. there is incredibly rarely a situation wherein the hcg drops that the being pregnant is persevered. ultimate of luck to you

The levels should be doubling every couple of days in the first trimester, and not tapering off until after 12 weeks. It does sound like the pregnancy is not progressing. So sorry.

When you are pregnant the level of hCG increases and usually doubles every two to three days. It then reaches a maximum level by the second or third month of pregnancy, followed by a decrease occurring in the third trimester.

Here are typical hCG Beta values in pregnant women up to 22 days post-retrieval (DPR) or days post-ovulation (DPO).

DPR or DPO Amount of hCG in mIU/ml

10 5 - 50

12 10 - 100

14 20 - 200

16 40 - 400

18 70 - 800

20 140 - 1600

22 180 - 3200

Here are the hCG Beta values given by the number of weeks after ovulation:

after the 1st week and 2 days 5.0 to 50.0 mUI/ml

Between 1st and 2nd week 5.0 to 500.0 mUI/ml

Between 2nd and 3rd week 100.0 to 5,000.0 mUI/ml

Between 3rd and 4th week 500.0 to 10,000.0 mUI/ml

Between 4th and 5th week 1,000.0 to 50,000.0 mUI/ml

Between 5th and 6th week 10,000.0 to 100,000.0 mUI/ml

Between 6th and 8th week 15,000.0 to 200,000.0 mUI/ml

Between 8th and 12th week 10,000.0 to 100,000.0 mUI/ml

I had a miscarriage and they kept checking my blood until it was practically zero (hcg levels)

I hope you are not having a miscarriage. Just keep in touch with your doctor and go to the er if needed.

Sorry sweetie, sounds like you're miscarrying. They should double about every 2-3 days.

Best wishes to you.
