Nirvana, they're the greatest grunge band of all time. Modern rock is what it is because of Nirvana. If you read the musical influences of those bands, many will have Nirvana between them.

Nirvana is the only one I recognize and I think maybe Green Day. Boy I must be gettin' old. I have seen the rest of these bands on my daughters Itunes . That's what she listens to, I will ask her and get back to you on that, bye for now.

I personally favor Green Day. They have made so much music and it is all classics. Look how often "Time of Your Life" is played for numerous ceremonies. Plus, I love how creative they always are ( : Next pick... All-American Rejects.

If I had to choose one of these, I would choose Nirvana because they were simply the first of their kind in grunge, not to mention they were one of the founding fathers of the genre. And to make things clear, Kurt Cobain was not a heroin addict until he met Courtney Love. Besides, Nirvana is the only one in that list with their own sound, the rest of them kind of sound the same to me.

Nirvana by far - without bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden, crap like new kids on the block would have been around a lot longer

None of them. I don't listen to crap. I prefer real music. Emo is crap, Nirvana was crap (Cobain was a junkie loser, a heroin addict is not someone to admire), Green Day is probably the best one you got up there (my wife loves them, I can't really stand them). Seriously, go listen to something good. If you want real punk rock, go listen to the Ramones, early Elvis Costello and early Talking Heads.
There are a million great bands out there, don't settle for this cooperate crap.

I should say Nirvana for street cred, but I'm going to say Death Cab. If you want proof, listen to The Photo Album, my favorite album of this week. I advise memorization of all the lyrics.

why is green day on there twice?
well it used to be them...but i think its probably mcr now
i over-listened to greenday
uh...i like them [more than the bands on this list anyway] because they have a bit of difference between thier songs
i like the melodic vocals in their newer songs
and the fact that they dont try to pull me in with repetative lyrics
like i said....i dont love any of the bands on this list
but they arent terrible
