I believe my 3 month old son has pink eye. The white of his eye on the inside is a pink color and his tear duct is also a darker pink the usual...underneath his eye is also pinkish...he's been rubbing it a lot lately...but can a fever be associated..and tiredness as well?

I have contacted the doctor they called in a prescription for him. Its not a clogged tear duct we've been through that!

It's more likely that he has a blocked tear duct. My daughter had the same problem when she was a baby, and it took about 8 months for it to open up. In every picture I have of her during that time, she had one good eye and one goopy eye. The doc can give you an antibiotic ointment to put in his eye, and may show you some rubbing techniques to open the duct, but my kid did better when I just left the eye alone.

Yep, it could well be pink eye. Sounds like you have it under control though. Just try to keep him from rubbing it as much as you can. Keep his hands as clean as possible as well, and try to keep water out of his eyes for the next few days while the medicine takes affect.
And yes, fever and tiredness can be associated with it - it is an infection, and the body's way of fighting infections it to spend energy and raise the temperature. The meds should help in both cases. Let him sleep if he wants to sleep - helps the body heal.

Please ask the pediatrician. Also, he could have a closed tear duct. Does it get gunky a lot? My son had that when born and had to pull down on his tear ducts 12 times a day to open them. Also, it's possible some baby fuzz from blanket got into eye and irritated it. No matter, the doc will know best. Don't be afraid to call and bring baby in. Hope he feels better.....and you too. Take care.

My son had it at three months too. I used breast milk, and also a medicine that the doc had prescribed for him. The doc also advised me to massage the baby's eyes. You use your thumbs and work your way under the baby's eyes towards the nose and then same from the top of the eyelid towards the nose very gently. I hope that helps. Good luck and please do take your baby to the docs.

Squirt some breastmilk into his eye. It's a great cure for pink eye. (Seriously!)
