At the very least, it is ANTI-AMERICAN. No one who was proud of their country and everything that their ancestors have fought and died for would ever do such a thing.

I do not believe flag burning is, nor should be, constitutional. The only way for a country to remain strong against its enemies, which is the best way to keep its citizens safe, is if it is united in patriotism. The old adage "Divide and Conquer" has allowed nations to take over other nations for thousands of years. That is what the terrorists are doing to us now. They have liberals and the Democrats wrapped around their little finger inciting them to disrupt, bicker protest, hate, accuse, and argue,.causing division within the country so that our enemies who want to kill us can come in and destroy our way of life. One of the little things that the ones who are always causing division do is to talk about how stupid it is to be patriotic and they will even desecrate or burn our flag. If the citizens of a country think that it is OK to burn their own flag even if it is in the name of "Free Speech" then we can not be a strong nation against those who want to take away all of our freedoms. If we cannot stick together in everything, especially in times of war, well, then we have lost the war. Love of Country is very important to a strong nation. How can you foster true allegiance and love for your country if you cannot respect its flag.
I believe it should be a crime to burn the flag of the United States of America. We don't need our citizens to have contempt for our country and the flag that represents its greatness. If they do, then all the freedom they say they have to burn it, even that, will be stripped from them when the terrorists use this weakness as a distraction so they can sneak in and take us by surprise. And yes, I do think that flag burning should be considered treason and punishable by law. We used to even win wars and we helped make the world a better place when no one would ever dream of burning our own flag. Now that so many people seem to think it is right to go crazy bashing everything about our own country, we are having a terrible time winning wars and for sure they are not making this part of the world a better place, freedom of speech or not.

It doesn't say anywhere in the Constitution that you can't do it. So you answer that question. Should it be illegal, yes. Congress should pass a law making it a federal offense to burn the flag.

It is protected by the Constitution as free speech.
It is very extreme and happens rarely. I think it should remain legal. It isnt hurting anything but some peoples feelings. But this country was not born by our Founding Fathers being polite! I think a great expression in regards to this issue is when Ben Franklin said "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend with my life your right to say it!" What do you think his opinion would be about this?

Only if you plan to curb the desultory use of the flag in an improper manner. As truck decorations and what not. It's even got into the military. They have a flag sewn on their sleeve. Did they forget what army they are in? No other army has, to my knowledge, done that. It hints at confusion.

From WW1to Vietnam males in my family have served under our flag and for it to be desecrated to me, makes me feel like sighting them in my cross hairs, I believe it should be a prison sentence of 3 yrs or more!

I think it is beyond disgusting. The Supreme Court has said it is a matter of free speech and can not be punished.
The only way to make it illegal would be by a constituional amendment. As revolting as I find the people who do it I do not believe it is the kind of thing that should be addressed by way of an amendment to the constituion.

Yes it's constitutional, and no it should not be punished because the irony would make us kind of a laughing stock. You are not free to mess with the symbol of your freedom. It's illogical.

As much as I dislike the thought and hate seeing it... I realize that is one of the freedoms we fought for, the right to dissent and usually persons lacking the words resort to a symbolic showing of their dissenting. Now mind you if i see it happen near me I may exercize my dissatifaction , but i respect their right to do it, as i respect my right to hand out an *** whooping
