because humans did not evolve from apes.

dogs and wolves are closely related, because dogs evolved from wolves and have subsequently been bred for generations by humans.

humans and apes evolved from a distinct precursor (the missing link), and are therefore not analogous to the dog wolf relationship. though chimps did evolve from a similar precursor, they are still relatively similar to humans in terms of DNA.

We share 95% of our DNA with apes, and 99% of our DNA with chimpanzees. Genetically, human males are more closely related to male chimpanzees than to female humans and vise versa.

Dogs and wolves are very closely related, but the differences between them are because they are different subspecies rather than different species, like humans and apes are.
