Does anyone have any personal experience with an IUD? I know it's different for different for different women, but I wanted to know how often people experience increased menstrual flow and/ or cramping. Everything else about the IUD seem cool, but that would totally suck

It really depends on which IUD you choose. The Para Guard is knows to cause painful heavier periods while Mirena decreases it. Its untrue about that it will fall out with excessive movement. I'm a mother of two children 3 and 5, I am a Nurse at a fast paced office and work out every day I run for about 2 hours so no it wont increase your chances of expulsion. What does increase the chance of it falling out is if its inserted before your 6 week post partum check up, if your body isn't keen to foreign objects, and if you ahvent had children previous. ALSO IUD's do not cause infection and have nothing to do with your Kidney or urinary tract a Kidney infection is a urinary tract infection that has not been taken care of. However having multiple partners and your partner having multiple partners increases your chance of infection and an infection is hard to treat with an IUD in place

I have the Mirena IUD. I love it. No more painful heavy periods. I have spotting off and on which isn't such a big deal. My PMS is gone too. I had no pain getting it put it...some women experience mild cramping.

I have an IUD and for the first year my period was irregular and some months had increased flow other months I skipped. I guess it just depends. I've had it for four years and haven't had any problems. I would talk to your doctor though. I have heard that if you haven't had children that it can make you sterile, not sure though.

The main reason I would not use an IUD is the possibility of it falling out, either due to cramps or just being very active.

I haven't experienced this but my friend has. She loved it for a while, she barely had a period. But a few months into it, she got an infection that messed up her kidney. So make sure you think long and hard about it. It could mess things up, but I guess it only happens once in a while! Goodluck :)

I requested my physician approximately them and they're highly-priced....approximately 800 bucks the only they did. Also, she stated probably the most cons is that your interval comes each time it needs. Good good fortune tho!
