Because they put salt in it to help preserve it. When it comes into the stores in comes by the case. Also it is precooked and all the stores does is put it in a big container of hot water and reheat it.

I love Taco Bell. I've never noticed the meat being too salty. Every Taco Bell is differently, actually. Try going to a different one.

I have never had salty meat at taco bell, in fact I think it is delicious. When you buy the seasoning at the store though, to make your own at home, it tastes totally different and too spicy for me. I just think their taco's are way to small, more lettuce than filling.

the salt is to preserve it and also I dont know that taco bell meat is even 100% "meat" I guess it depends on your definition of meat

Eirammaya is correct. It comes pre-cooked frozen, in heat resistant plastic bags and the bags are dipped down into a huge stainless steel container of hot water for it to cook. I assume the salt helps preserve the meat
