From what I understand, the Douglas Fir is one of the longer-lasting Christmas Trees out there. They are also very easy to keep around, as they can go longer with the water they have, and don't have to duck down and fill up the stand as much.

We got a Noble Fir this year, but we've had Douglas Firs before, and they hold up well.

Fraser Fir often looks really good even after the needles have dried...and doesn't shed as much as the Dougals Fir.

Since I have my three grandsons in the house we always decorate at least two weeks before Christmas and then take the tree down after New Years. I want to make the holiday as special as I can for them, you know? It is a tradition that we all decorate the tree together and hang the stockings together too...
