I don't think the fact that your daughter was premature has anything to do with it. She is too young. I made my daughter wait until she showed me that she was responsible enough to take care of her ears by herself. My daughter was also premature. You have enough responsibilites as it is. Why add one more? And, waiting until she's older will give you something to look forward too. I took my daughter out to lunch and shopping the day she got her ears pierced. It was just our day. And maybe she won't want her ears pierced. You never know.

I was 7 when I got my ears pierced. I wanted them done for a few years, since other kids in school had theirs pierced. My mom made it a big deal for me on my 7th b-day, and she took me to get them done, and I still remember it to this day! Now that I have a daughter (she's 2 1/2) I'm waiting till she's around 7 to get her's done on a special day like my mom did with me. Plus, at least she'll be old enough to be able to turn them a few times a day, and clean them with little help. I wouldn't feel comfortable having my daughter responsible for something that important any younger, you never know what can happen, infection, and injury if she pulls on them too hard.

I realize its a personal decision, however since your asking I will give you my two cents. I personally think that Babies are too young to have their ears pierced. Its another thing you as a parent have to make sure doesnt get infected. My husband and I have decided to wait until she is older and asks us to get them pierced. I think its a choice that your child needs to make. If she doesnt want them pierced, then we will leave them alone. If she does we will get them done. But until then the lobes will be left the way GOD made them. Pure.

Yes she is too young. Why would you get your daughter's ears pierced as a baby?

I use to pierce ears years ago. I hated to do it. Babies pull on their ears, for me it would be one more thing to worry about it.

At the advice of my mother in law we peirced my babys ears 2 weeks after she was born and i think it was a good decision because the pain doesnt remain she cried for like a second and as soon as we gave her a bottle everything was fine. they do recomend that they atlleast have their first shots but its not required.

My daughter was 9 months old when I got her ears peirced and she was fine. The doctor said this would be the best age.

wait and let her decide if she wants to have her ear's pierced....she might not like them. I didnt have my daughters done until she was 12 and that was with her asking me to let her.

personally I would wait until she's at least a year old. Preemies have a harder time dealing with germs and you want her immune system to be as strong as possible.
