I have a Green Spotted Pufferfish in a 30 gallon marine tank. recnetly the salinity raised to 1.030 because i didnt top off with fresh water. A few days later he wasnt lookin well. I did a 5 gallon water change of fresh water. He looked a little bit better and then bad again. He is very dark and swims in circles at the top of the tank, kinda floating with his back out of water...Does he have air in him? Or is it the salinity?

Ammonia=0
nitrite=0
nitrate=30
salinity=1.026
pH= about 8.2

answer asap please, he doesnt look good...

Stupid question, but are you sure it's a green spotted puffer? Many a time have spotted puffers been mislabeled, and it's important to know for salinity purposes.

Etc" http://puffernet.tripod.com/confusion.html

Anyway, I'm sure that's not the issue. 1.030 is a tad high but it shouldn't have been fatal. If he puffed?
Sounds like he has a swim bladder issue.
What is your normal salinity? 1.026 is a little higher than recommended (1.010 or 1.015).

But I don't see what could be causing this problem. Have you had him for a long time? If it is swimbladder, he might just be sold, and it was tiggered by the salinity swim.

Any other symptoms? You could try a course of Maracyn-2, which might help.

The salinity flucuation may have been to severe. Remember: brackish and marine tanks need more attention to detail.

Floating isn't a good sign. If it manages to survive and improve, try lowering salinity a little and keep nitrates at 20ppm or below.

are not getting the puffer yet, cycle your tank so he won't get under pressure and die from ammonia poisoning. Puffers love java moss and java fern furnish a good number of that. they are going to nip on different fishes fins or perhaps kill them so beat tank pals are shrimps and otos. Snails must be very tiny so as that they are in a position to consume it. beware in the event that they sing his own praises it relatively is by using stress and being hungry. They consume bloodworms and snails. Very curious and social, they are going to easily sit down of their tank and watch you =D lol!!! Agressive and territorial to different puffers. I preffer sand with out silica by using fact they are delicate and can harm their dermis from gravel. Goodluck!!!
