Hang out with the people who make you feel most comfortable. Friends should not be mad at you for having other friends. Be yourself and don't worry so much about what other people think :)

That is Exactly how I was. I had friends in my grade, but I hung out with more of the people in the grade ahead of me. My friends didn't take offense because I was still their friend too.
When I became a senior I was so lost without my friends who had graduated. It was hard for me. I missed them. I still had my other friends, I just felt closer to the friends who were older than me. There is nothing wrong with it. If they are mad, it is their problem, not yours and they were not really your friends to begin with. You can be friends with more than one person. You can hang out with who you feel more comfortable with. Just don't forget your other friends too. They will still be there when your other friends graduate.

I would advise you to be considerate of your friends in your grade. Just because you are hanging out with others who are a bit older than you doesn't give you the right to hurt your friends. You will as you go through life meet people who are older, younger, or the same age as you. All's you can do to maintain your personal life is treat all with as much respect as you desire for yourself from each of them.

It's perfectly normal to have friends of a different age or grade, and you have every right to do so.
But your friends in your grade feel like you are ignoring them and don't like them. You have to see them every day and share classes with them, so you should make an effort to be friendly with people in your grade, even if they aren't your close/best friends.
Be extra nice and friendly (without being fake) to your friends in your grade, and have lunch with them at least once a week.

You have to be friends with the people that YOU want to be friends with. You're not going to be in school forever and it's important to associate with the people that you like. Once you're out of school it won't matter anymore and you will have friends of various age ranges anyway. Number one is just not to let anyone else make your choices for you. Do what you want to do not what anyone else wants because that's the only way you will be happy.

Don't think in terms of LIKING them more or less. Instead appreciate the things each individual's frienship offers. Having a wide variety of friends is a VERY GOOD thing. SHOW IT. HOW YOU APPRECIATE THEIR FRIENSHIP TOO. Then there wont be any of this anger jealousy and so forth.

as long as you are not using your friends in your grade just to hang with in class then they cant get angry you are allowed more than one griup of friends. makes sure you see them out of school/college as well as the older ones so they dont feel used.

That is a dilemma....you are going to have to find time for both groups if you want both groups to like you. It's hard, but you can't have it both ways.
