I wouldn't do it, there are hundreds of others things you can do, why choose one where you have to go and ask other people if it's cruel or not? And what are you going to do if there is no change? That might make a pretty boring experiment, so you and your friend are probably hoping the diet will do something bad, and that's wrong.

Also, to the people who say that it's fine because that's what they eat outside, then this begs the question....what's the point of doing an experiment then??

If you know how awful junk food is, technically yes. But people that eat only junk food are being equally cruel to themselves, and there are many people like this. This kind of research (and worse) is done time and time over in professional research labs, and I don't think these people would consider themselves to be cruel. I guess the answer depends on who you ask. I probably wouldn't do it, but there have been plenty of crueler things done to mice that have resulted in beneficial medical knowledge.

Also, think about the mice outside of your captivity. What would it eat if it was, let's say, living behind your stove? Little crumbs of junk food and crap, whatever it could find. I don't think it would be able to get its paws on the mice food you find at the store. I think overfeeding the mouse is what could be considered cruel, not necessarily what you feed it.

Not cruel if you enroll junk food mouse in Jenny Craig immediately after the project is over. Nahh, I don't think it's cruel. I think someone else wrote it, too: rodents in the wild will eat not only junk food, but any old crazy thing it will find.

With all the things that happen to mice, this might not seem so bad. lol. I don't think it is cruel, mice are type of rodents - almost like rats- that can live on almost anything. Any other type of animal it might be, but not mice. Even if it turns out to not be all that good for it, it would die happy. lol.

people have been experimenting on mice for years and if the mouse was wild and happened to come across junk food, it would eat it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Hamster balls are not to any extent further merciless- fantastically in case you do not have an section at your position of residing to let them run free effectively. The balls enable the mouse the freedom to stumble on. even if that exploration comes from purely operating round particularly than "completely"exploring something like they could do with out the ball. a minimum of with the ball they're getting out of the cage for some a lot needed exercising. for sure the purely right element will continually be to have a secure section for the mouse to play with out being in a ball, yet no longer all and dissimilar has a thanks to attempt this. to that end, a ball is a wide decision. Many animals look to learn from the run about balls. the in problem-free words aspect in which i believe it truly is a few distance too merciless to positioned an animal in a ball is even if it truly is a rat, guinea pig or different large animal. Rats have unfavorable eyesight and the balls rigidity them out and better animals should not be constrained in a small ball at the same time as it truly is basic adequate to ward off them from stepping into too a lot difficulty on their own. it truly is not "psychological torture" I assure you. it truly is a large debate on-line with 0.5 at one end of the talk and nil.5 at the different. there is extra evidence pointing to the benefits of the ball than there are on the opposite. i'm particular you'll locate your mice very a lot appreciate their out of cage time contained in the ball. some animals may even stand on their hind legs at the same time as they comprehend it truly is time to go back out of the cage to signal that they are excited and favor to go back out. purely be certain to get the acceptable length ball to ward off any achievable complications. good luck!
