I'm so frustrated because sometimes I have a "pooch" and seem to show only when I eat. I find myself intentionally sticking out my belly with my muscles at baby stores and such because no one would believe I'm pregnant otherwise and they'd say something. Milkshakes DONT WORK. I dont eat alot of meat because it makes me queesy these days. I eat more fruits, vegetables, and dairy. I do eat steaks and chicken though at times. What can I do? I take all my prenatal vitamins and the baby seems fine. I have been tested for Fifths disease after an exposure and my levels are slightly elevated. Would this cause me not to be gaining weight? I'm seeing a specialist for high disk pregnancies.

Be patient, first of all. Your body will gain the weight that it needs to and you DON"T want to gain too much weight. Your concern about looking pregnant or looking like you just have a pooch is a frustration with ALL mothers. I have 2 kids and with both pregnancies I wanted to hurry and get past the pooch stage so that everyone would know I was pregnant and not fat. So again, try to be patient and know that your body will tell you when it's hungry. Because once you start gaining weight it will not stop until that beautiful baby is with you!! Congrats....:)

I can't answer your question about Fifths disease, but the rest of it, I totally relate to. The important thing is that your baby is healthy.

Now, as for showing....I didn't start showing till I was 23 weeks pregnant. I mean, I looked like I had a pooch...and not in a good way. After the 23rd week, boy, I grew! I felt HUGE and I LOVED every second of it (I must've been weird). Now, the thing is, don't try to purposely overeat to gain weight...you probably won't gain it in the right spot just because of that and even if you do, people will be able to tell it's "fat" instead of baby...and you probably don't want that either. When you get farther along, you won't want to gain so much actual weight because it could make your pregnancy harder and cause problems with the baby...not to mention making it harder to drop AFTER the baby is out....you won't have an excuse then. :) You should really NOT push your muscles out either b/c they're going to stretch and contort anyway...try to keep them in the best shape as possible. Just be patient. You'll be big in no time and at times you'll wonder, "what was I thinking?" Enjoy it and don't worry about the people in the baby stores not believing you're pregnant. I went to the stores a TON when i was pregnant and people never gave me funny looks...and I would see other newly pregnant women in there and think "I remember those days." It's funny b/c they walk around holding their bellies like they are huge, but you TOTALLY "get" it. The people working there are all used to it so don't feel weird. They know a lot of first time moms rush out the second they find out they're pregnant to register for stuff, so keep your chin up...and your bellow will eventually poke out! :)

Oh yeah...just wait to see if your belly BUTTON pokes out. That's interesting....I called it my turkey timer...when it pops out, it's done! :)

I understand your excitement for wanting to start showoing now. I'm starting to blossom and it takes time. I dont suggest to eat too much especially sugars etc. You want to eat healthy. You don't want to get gestational diabetes. If your worried about your weight or diet I would ask your dr or see a Nutrionists. Sorry other than this advise I just go back to the dreaded patience patience patience. Best of luck tc

everybody is different. Some women start to show immediately where others seems to take a long time.
I am now 7 months and just started to show. I am not big though.
it depends on your body. if you are tall it will hardly show too. it's just your body structure.. as long as your baby is fine, then i wouldn't worry about it. i know you want the whole world to know, but you will show later on.. good luck.

I weighed 100lbs when I first got pregnant, I didn't show hardly at all until my 5th month. Now I'm at my 9th month and weigh 151lbs. Just wait girl, he/she is growing everyday. And keep up the good work! Those vitamins really help the baby.

Hey there! Don't worry, you'll begin showing in enough time. I am 27 weeks and did not begin to show unitl I was @ 23 weeks, so it happens at different times for women, depending in your size already:) HOpe this helps

To me you sound just fine. Most women don't 'show'
until they are six months pregnant, some never 'show'
and have perfectly fine pregnancies and healthy children.
Count your blessings and don't worry so much.

if you are a really skinny person to start with it takes longer for you to show. I was skinny and it took me 4 months and I popped.
