I HAVE to give to the CHARITY that THEY choose to fleece me with...the US Welfare System - funded by my taxes.

I can't tell you to follow the 10 Commandments but you can tell me I HAVE to pay more taxes so drug addicts can sit home and collect checks.

I LOVE giving money and help to hard working FAMILIES that - through no fault of their own (not a chosen drug habit) has had a run of bad luck. LOVE to help. But stop telling me I have to LOVE to help ungrateful beggars who think we just do not do enough for them and I will tell you, "Thou shalt not covet they neighbors goods" is off the table for you guys...

My opinion is that many liberals consider themselves to be an elite class that knows what is best for the world, including you. That is why they support big government, high taxation of the so called "evil rich" and social programs.

The funny thing about this is that liberals generally vote for high taxes and government programs that amount to forced charity, but very rarely give anything to charity themselves. (Most liberals will disagree with this, but there is a new book out called "who really cares" by Arthur Brooks he scientirfically proves that conservatives give more money, time and blood than liberals.)

I personally believe that government needs to get out of the charity business and hand it completely over to the private sector. If you have a package to send do you generally use the US mail or Fed-ex or UPS? Who would you rather help you in a time of distress FEMA or the Red Cross? If you need help deciding that consider the Katrina fiasco.

Also liberals don't want to hear about the ten commandments because they do not want to adhere to an absolute standard of morality. Many liberals say "there are no absolutes" which ironically is an absolute.

Some unfortunate people only used the welfare system for a hand up in a time of need, rather than a handout. For those people, I don't think you begrudge your spent tax dollars.
The people who use welfare as a handout are an entirely different matter. The fact is these type of people are the dredge of society. If the handouts stop, they would be more apt to rob and steal to get what they want, rather than get a job. In that respect, the welfare money they receive is cheaper than the tax dollars it would cost to catch them, prosecute them, and house them in prison.
In either case, whether the money is a hand up to help someone down on their luck or payment to prevent crime, it's money well spent.

ahem... no one is forcing you to love anything. And the welfare systems are getting a lot less of your tax dollars than you think. It's completely unfair to stereotype all those receiving welfare checks as "drug addicts." I'm sure that many of those on welfare never had the same opportunities you and I did to create an ideal life for themselves, and they're trying to make do with what they have to provide for their families. Is that so wrong? What about the people who were hard working but then ran into a medical crisis or fell victim to corporate downsizing? Is it wrong to help them out? From what you've said, you don't think it is. My guess is that many of the people receiving welfare checks fall into those categories.

Since you're so big on the Commandments, I expect that you know the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If you fell on hard times, you would want help, which is what welfare gives. And it says in Leviticus: Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. It does NOT say "love thy neighbor as thyself... unless they're a drug addict."

And just for the record... no one "chooses" to become addicted to drugs. Did they choose to take drugs that first time? Yes. Was that a mistake? Yes. But they did not wake up one day and say "Hmm, I think I'll become a heroin addict today."

You are rather ignorant aren't you? You make the assumption that all welfare recipients are drug addicts. Got news for ya, they aren't. If they're on welfare, what makes you think they've acutally got money to buy drugs. Those who do are finding other ways to get their fix.

We as a country decided long ago that we'd have a social safety net to help those in need. Becuase of Clinton (and R congress), TANF was reformed so that now there are limits on how long you can be on welfare. the number of people on welfare has been falling for several years. And the number that are on is a small minority of our population -- like 6% of the country.

No you can't tell me to follow the 10 commandments (I do anyway) but we have the constitution which guarantees freedom of religion-- which means people don't have to follow YOUR religion and that the governemnt should not "establish" a religion.

get over it.

Ya know, our welfare system wouldn't have to be so in need of funds if we got rid of the anti (worker, middle-class, free-trade) American policies of the Republican party. Making the ability to earn a decent wage for working an 8hr day a reality for all.

Promoting your point on this issue as liberal is like trying to fly a kite with no wind. You must like being some kind of serf that thinks there doing their part by agreeing with the lord. In a pro-progressive economy you'd have nothing to gripe about.

In other words-"Covet thy middle finger thou clueless asker"

The government is the ones who take your taxes, not the liberals. And the government has decided that helping those who are in need is better overall for a society. I also support given welfare to families or individuals who have fallen on hard times. But I also don't mind paying taxes to give drug addicts (I don't think they chose to become addicted) treatment. I would rather they clean up then steal my car for drug money.

So stop blaming liberals for something the government, whom you are just a part of as them, has decided.

Many Liberals flaunt their lack of understanding. they are conditioned to have self belief lies really of imagine for themselves. for example, the overdue Democrat Senator Byrd became a recruiter and officer in the KKK. have you ever heard a Liberal communicate about that, a lot less condemn him? also, the persons lynching blacks in the South and belonging to the KKK were regularly Democrats. about now, each of the Liberals reading this truth are spewing venom at me for announcing it. it is the way they have been conditioned. Then there is the concern of warmongers. Democrat President Roosevelt were given us in WWII, Democrat President Truman were given us into the Korean conflict, then misplaced it. Democrat President Kennedy were given us into the Vietnam conflict. Democrat President Johnson used the large lie, "The Gulf of Tonkin determination, and led to fifty 8,000 individuals to die, and 100s of thousand to be maimed and their lives ruined. i study about all this because i'm almost 80 years previous and that i served in the militia for twenty-four years for the duration of those circumstances. The Liberals are like cats in a clutter field attempting to conceal up each of the truth.
