It was called Pangea.
Plants, animals, geology and just looking at a map of the world all support it.

It was called Pangea and the fact that the earth'splates are constantly in motion has been well docmented. The arrangment of the continents into one is based on what we know about the direction of the plates plus the obvious shapes that one can see on a globe of where the continents used to fit together. For example you can see how the east coast of S America would fit nicely into the west coast of Africa.

Pangea. This is a rather nice website, showing how the continents have moved across the face of the globe over time.
