Macbeth was soooooooo much better, in my opinion.
Romeo and Juliet is, after all, a love story...and I'm not all too into love stories, unless they're somewhat realistic. Also, I found them way too teen-angsty.

Romeo and Juliet
I like the romance of Romeo and Juliet.
at the end the dual and sword fights are also very dramatic
My favorite Shakespeare play is
Mid Summers' Night Dream
I like the use of faeries and the setting of Camelot.
rather like than the drama of Macbeth, the scene where Lady Macbeth is washing her hands because of the guilt she feels. The play is an analyst dream with all the guilt and misery.

They are both excellent plays for different reasons.
If you need something with romantic passion and angst, go for Romeo and Juliet.
If you need something with shocking and spine chilling scenes, go for MacBeth.
I have to say though, Lady MacBeth is quite a deep and complex character worth the research!

Macbeth is better dramatically, but Romeo and Juliet is pretty good too.
R&J has one of my favorite characters, Mercutio.
I think Hamlet is even better than these two plays.

Macbeth is the better of the two.. I've seen both film/stage versions and Macbeth sticks in my mind a lot more - better drama/tension/plot etc, but I'm not knocking R&J either. I love the Shakespearean plays set abroad - gives you a brillant sense of how they lived.

Macbeth is my favorite work of Shakespeare. It has it all: political intrigue, murder, insanity, war, witches etc. Hamlet has most of these also, but the murder has already happened before the play starts, we do not get to see it. Macbeth also has my (maybe) favorite line: By the pricking of my thumbs something wicked this way comes.

Neither.
The ultimate Shakespeare play: Titus Andronicus
war, ritual murder, rape, tongues and hands cut off, court intrigue, a downward spiral of despair and mental instability, and most importantly...Meat Pies.
