One of my friends personally knew a serial killer - he was the only known cannibal in our country. He was my friend's neighbour. She went to their house several times, for birthdays and such. Later when the man was apprehended, they found human parts in his refrigerator. He (with the help of his wife) had slaughtered people and fried their meat. And eaten it. When asked by the investigators how they could do it, the answer was: "Why, with ketchup, of course!" Can you imagine the horror of my friend who had been a frequent visitor in their house - and a dinner guest! She tried to convince us that she had had only sardine sandwiches at the cannibals' residence but guess, if we believed her. The cannibal later hanged himself in his cell (it was rumoured the police didn't exactly interfere) and his wife went to jail for a long time. I hear she's out by now. They were both nice and quiet people and nobody in the neighbourhood suspected anything before it all came out in the open. The husband was a waiter by profession, I don't remember about the wife. There was one thing they had in common though: they both came from very religious families. So that's a true story for you.
