I have this sequence after a wolf has been killed, his human companion's soul leaves her body (she's alive) at the same time his does and they meet in the air after which both enter into her body.
It would be nice to know so that one character in my story can explain this to his daughter.
Remember it is only a fictional story I am talking about.

Transended is a good word for leaving the body. You could say that the wolf (are we talking animal or werewolf?) becomes a host in her body.

Sounds like lycanthropy to me.
Maybe your character could explain this in such a way as to rehabilitate the myth, make it seem a sympathetic character, as Barnabas Collins and Lestat have done for vampirism.

I suppose souls that transmigrate could enter the same vessel. Wouldn't that be like the demons in the Bible answering "our name is legion" ? Just call it transmigration for want of a better term.

Sounds like "quickening", which is the term they use in Highlander after the victor gets the loser's powers.
