i saw an episode where monica and rachel babysit him and he says "monica bang", which i thought were his first words.
however, i just saw a re-run and rachel is talking to him and he says "hi" and then carol and susan come to pick him up and he says "bye" and everyone is making a big deal that "hi" and "bye" are his first words.
which is it??? i know someone out there is a major friends fanatic who can tell me!!!

The Monica bang thing was the first time he said her name - and very near when he started talking.
The other episode you are talking about is the first time he spoke.

I concur with Ally H. "hi" was Ben's first word, "bye" his second.
