Some good restaurants are:
Sidney Street Cafe (pretty spendy)
Red Moon
1111 Mississippi
Fun dates are:
Bowling alley at the Moolah Shrine or at Pin Up Bowl
Movie at the Moolah Shrine (get there early so you can get some wine and sit on one of the leather couches!).
Boat ride in Forest Park (at the Boat House--you can eat there, too)
Go to the top of the Arch (if neither of you have ever done it before)
Concert at The Pageant
Show at the Fox Theatre
Ice Skating in Forest Park
Cardinals Game
Tour the Budweiser Brewery
Some of these are obviously seasonal type activities, and some are touristy, but it's kind of fun to do those things if you haven't ever done them or if it's been a long time.
Have fun!

The Science Center and the Zoo are both nice, because they're both free and you can just wander around looking at stuff and talking.
You could take an Anheuser Busch Brewery Tour, and then eat at one of the restaurants near there afterward. McGurk's (in Soulard) is a fun bar with good food and live, Irish music. Sydney Street Bistro (in Benton Park) is a very nice sit-down restaurant (reservations needed ahead of time). Arcelia's (in Lafayette Square) is a great Mexican restaurant.
The Central West End is also a fun date area. You could walk along Delmar and window shop, see a show at the Pageant, and have dinner at the Melting Pot, a romantic fondue restaurant.

It depends on the kind of things you like to do...
~Laser tag, go-karts, putt-putt (the Mills mall has all three)
~dinner and a movie (I suggest anything on the hill or the old spaghetti factory on the landing)
~city museum (big kids playground)
~dave and busters (big kids chuck-e-cheese)
~depending on the season, six flags or the drive in movie (there's one in Belleville, IL)
~bowling
~ I'm not sure if you're over 21 or not, but Bailey's Chocolate Bar is everything chocolate, including chocolate martinis
~The Melting Pot, a little pricey but soooo good
Have a great date! :)
