I currently own two wonderful piggies. They are living a wonderful and healthy life. =)
Go to www.cavycompendium.com and it is a forum full of great people who can answer any questions that you have. They will tell you everything you need to know on how to take care of a guinea pig. They are a friendly bunch!
Guinea pigs need vitamin c because they can't produce their own. Veggies will give you pig the vitamin c that he needs. Feed fresh veggies everyday. Here's a link to a guinea pig shopping list --
http://www.cavycompendium.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7501 . I would not recommend newspaper as bedding because it does not soak up the pee and can leave a horrible smell. I would recommend CareFresh bedding. They also need Timothy Hay to munch on and I highly recommend Oxbow Cavy Cuisine Pellets as part of their diet. Good luck with the piggies and please visit the link in order to give your little darling a full and healthy life. NO SALT LICKS OR VITAMIN C DROPS!
If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me. I am an experienced guinea pig owner.

First of all, make sure the pig gets vita-drops in their water. Guinea Pigs need vitamin C daily.
Make sure you use Aspen or carefresh bedding. DO NOT use Cedar or Pine because it's bad for their lungs.
They need a salt lick and Timothy Hay (not alfalfa) as well as a regular guiniea pig food.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are a great treat, lettuce, apples, carrots etc. only give a little at a time, and take out uneaten pieces to keep the cage clean and fresh.
Please feel free to email me with questions.

You need to be so excited! First of all depart them of their cage for a couple of hours proper now so they may be able to get used to the atmosphere and their new lifestyles. Don't be disenchanted if they are frightened of you. They will hot as much as you in a couple of days. So make certain to shop for the biggest cage you'll be able to come up with the money for. No starter ones. If you have already got one, bear in mind that your guinea pigs will develop so be all set and retailer up slightly cash or begin creating a better cage. Guinea pigs will have to have guinea pig pellets always as good as hay or alfalfa. Make certain the meals you purchase has adequate diet C. Good treats incorporate: carrots, inexperienced peppers, celery, apple slices, contemporary grass and I'm certain theres extra. Give your guinea pigs plenty of awareness and might be guinea pig evidence a small room so you'll be able to allow them to run round (underneath strict supervision of direction!) They will have to have a minimum of a couple of mins out in their cage day-to-day to run round or sit down to your lap. Have amusing along with your new guinea pigs!

what kind of information do you want?
um... you should get more than one because they are social and keep them in a room that you spend a lot of time in. the cages sold at pet stores are only big enough for one maybe 2 pigs... no cages with wire bottoms b/c they are bad for guinea pigs feet.... give them lots of attention... a lot of timothy hay food and water... about twice a day give them fruit of vegitables that have a lot of vitimin C... clean the cage about once a week minimum... thats all i can think of
hope i was helpful

They need grass or hay, pretty much everyday. They love fruit, and need it for vit c, cuz like us they dont make it in their bodies. They really love veggies, tho mine was a bit picky. No walking on bars for them, like botom of mesh cages. No rolling balls to walk or run in, they ruin their backs. If ever breed, do when a few months old, or never breed them. Mine liked the general pellets better than the mix feed. Make sure have plenty of space to run, if not in cage take out several times a week and run around somewhere, but remember they like to hide in hidey holes. The are social animals, so hold them; when i held mine for more than half hour would pee, and eventually poop on ya...never potty train. They like to squeak and such, mostly for food, wanting some companionship, or somethings wrong. Keep nails clipped, but not often and not too short.

lots of floor space, fresh water, hiding places, fresh food, cleaned regularly. They have very very sensitive lungs and respitory tracts. Vinegar cleans ammonia deposits (from urine) very well. keep them in atleast pairs. Play with them often. keep them well supported when holding them they are scared really easy and will jump if they think you will drop them. They can't jump ove a foot so high walls on a "cage" is not important and they can't climb a verticle surface so tops on cages are not always necessary. They love timothy grass and about anything rabbits like. keep their fats (in their food) down. they need a teething toy (wood block, stick etc.) keep an eye on them and good vet visits they get sick more than most animals.

Guinea pigs need lots of compassion if you want them to love you. Hold them at least one hour a day. Always give them water. Love your guinea pig!
