I grew up there, and I think it's the crappiest town ever.

I've been through Dixon many times. (I used to live in Champaign, Illinois.) It's a pretty little river town (Rock River) with one claim to fame -- Ronald Regan lived there when he was a boy.

There's also a big state monument to Abraham Lincoln in town, too. Oh, and I've saved the best (?) for last. . .they have a big petunia* festival every summer.

If you like nice river towns with pretty scenery, you'll like Dixon.

*That's petunia as in flower, not Petunia as in Porky's girlfriend, BTW. ;-)

Edit:

Just read your edit. . .guess I wasted my time describing the place. I wish you would've mentioned that first, and I wouldn't have bothered to reply.

I haven't been there but I think that's the birthplace of President Ronald Reagan. I'm sure there must be some memorial to him there.
