I believe the reason a large portion of married people (men & women) is do to unrealistic expectations of marriage.
Some people think that once you are married you don't need to work at the relationship. That's wrong
These people that cheat are trying either get back the life they think they are missing or trying to get a fresh start without giving up the security of the old life.
The whole "something is lacking" in the marriage crap is just an excuse to act badly. There is not justification for acting badly.

The most common reason is that their marriage lacks the romance it once generated. Also common reasons men admit to is their wives weight gain or emotional distance!

they think they have found someone who will meet their needs. so they cheat, they no longer find the wife attractive, or are in love. so when the other woman comes along it is quite easy for him to be tempted, and follow through. but it is mostly about what is in a man's character, his lack of self control, his thought process, his past, what he has done in relationship's before. has to do with him being selfish, and not having a concience. lack of respect for the wife, getting even with her. and marrying a wife for the wrong reasons, and justifying his deed, by saying he never liked her anyway. he may not know what he wants in life, he is just a double minded man. no intregety, and he doesn't have very high morals in that area. but for the most i think he really doesn't love his wife, maybe never did, and has found someone else he can manipulate alot easier, who hasn't gotten to know him yet. he may not be satisfied with her sexually, and the thrill of a new love means more to him than fidelity, or the happiness of his wife. he just doesn't like her, not enough to even talk to her before he crosses that line.

I think men cheat on their wives because men are born with a natural instinct to sew their seed with many partners as opposed to being with one partner their whole life. I think they get bored easier and want variety especially if they get a wife who doesn't want to have sex often. But then you have men who have sex often with their mate but they become bored because it is like eating chicken cooked the same way every night. They want side dishes, so variety. And then you have men that are just plain pigs who dont think with anything but their dick and don't care who they hurt as long as they are busting a nut.

lack of sex, they are not attracted to their wives anymore/not turned on by them, their feelings have changed for her, they feel trapped in the marriage and are only staying because of the children, not feeling like a priority anymore on the wifes list.....
