If i return an unopened package by writing "return to sender" and dropping it at the post office ,will i need to pay for shipping charges ?

No, it's not your problem as long as it's unopened. Usually the person that gets it back has to pay the return shipping postage when the item gets returned to them. I've had to hand the mailman money before and sign a slip when I've received returned packages at work. Sometimes they don't even ask even though I think they are supposed to.
