John Lynch is a great safety, but not a good Free safety. he plays like he is a strong safety. he watches the TE and moves into run support. i don't know why Shannahan converted him into a FS, when he was in Tampa he was a strong safety. i think he is a hall of fame bound Safety, but he is not the best FREE safety.
that honor will go to Brian Dawkins (also probably hall of fame bound), then Ed Reed (he got converted into a Free safety this year) and then Sean Taylor, who is a great all around safety, the next brian dawkins in my opinion

and to other people
Bob sanders is a good free safety, and i would put him in the top 10 for safeties

Polamalu is NOT a free safety, Roy Williams is NOT a free safety

Personally I don't know why Lynch is listed as the FS for the Broncos... he plays more as a SS. He is normally in the box stopping the run and hitting people.

IMO Brian Dawkins is the best FS in the NFL. He usually averages 70 - 80 tackles per season, 3 - 4 INTs and a ton of passes defensed. A great center-fielder in the NFL.
