I was in wal-mart yesterday, when all of a sudden this older guy comes up(not "old", but maybe like mid 30's to early 40's) and says "You are adorable!" Then he's asking who does my hair and colors it and I said my mom does. Anyway, he gave me a card that had just his first name on there (It looked professional), and then he's like "well if you ever want anything done like hair or makeup(because he works on that kind of stuff he said), call me. I also work with modeling/beauty agencies." Or you know, something along those lines. His work number or cell, I forget which one, was written on the back. He asked for my name also. So, I'm just wondering, should I call? I've always dreamt of getting into acting and such. I'm 18 years old also, if any of you are wondering. Thanks for the help!

I just looked up his business. The address is exactly the same, but the name of the business is different. On the card it says "Village Hair Studios", but on the internet it says "Ruben Reider Dba Luz Hair Studio".

I would be somewhat cautious of that. I will share an experience. When I was a teen my sister and I and some guy friends of ours were walking to a friends house. This man pulled up and asked for directions. We gave him directions. He then gave my sister and I a card that looked legit and asked if we would be interested in modeling. I told him no right off as I had a bad feeling about him. About 3 weeks later I was watching the news and there was a story about a male that had raped and killed several ladies and then it showed his face and it was the same man that had approached my sister and I. So I would just be safe. Use your own judgement but wisely.

It sounds like this "talent scout" may be out to take advantage of your virtue, to put it couthly. If I were in your shoes, I certainly wouldn't call him. A professional does not present a business card that has only a first name and a phone number hand-written on the reverse. He doesn't want to make you a star...he wants something else.

Do be careful. There are some real creeps out there preying on cute hopefuls!
It may just be that he's trying to build his clientele for hair and makeup... If you want to call, go for it, but bring mom (or dad) with. If there are any hesitations about their presence, leave. (Just say this is my agent and if they can't be present during my _____ (screen test, audition, whatever....) then you won't be either. If they try to say that they don't want you to feel inhibited in your performance by their presence, RUN! (Sometimes they might get you a soda or something and it is laced with something to help "loosen" you up.... Then you could be victimized and not remember...) NOT worth that.... Agent present or NO GO! ; )
Good LUCK!

I would suspect that talent scouts, if such things exist would not likely be found in Wal-Mart. I would suggest that if you want to get into acting, you join a local theatre company, or study acting with a reputable teacher.

He could be looking for someone who is of age who looks young. I saw a bit on TV a while ago about guys who do that. They recrute girls exactly like that to do porn. The girls get paid mad cash (were talking 100 thousand and up). They get free stuff and they get their naked tushies all over the net. I'd be careful. You can call and if you go let your mom know what your doing exactly.

Sounds like a scam, he probably drops them lines to other girls! If you choose to call him please be on your guard honey... and don't give any money, a professional would never ask for cash. Look up his so called buiseness, i.e do some research. All the best, I hope you achieve your goals but without being taken for a ride. be careful girlfriend!

First of all, you should talk to your parents first before you make any choices. And if you do decide to see this guy, bring a parent along. (just in case!)
I'd say this guy is a scam artist.... Walmart is full of creepy people! Do what you think is right, just use your common sense!

Be very careful. The first thing I would do is google him to see if he and his company are legit. He may be a serial killer, he may be a perv, he may just be a guy trying to drum up more business, but his intentions don't sound good at all. Tread lightly and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER agree to meet this person alone.

Prolly a scam artist...most scouts don't hang in Walmart. Don't call. You should also call your local PD and give them the details and a good description of the guy before he hurts someone.

There's no such thing as a talent scout. Big time scam! P.S. Where do you live? If the answer isn't N.Y. L.A. or Chicago...
