Hey.
I just started on the pill (ortho tri-cyclen), I'm on my 5th day. I read the pamphlet and it said that it begins to work immediately so long as you take it properly.
However, when I browsed Y! Anwers, many many many people seemed to think that you should wait a full month before not using any other means of protection. Why is that? Am I missing something?
And I know "you should always use another means of protection", etc. But I've been with my man for 3 1/2 years now and he's NEVER cummed inside me, and we've both been checked for STD's, ect. So please no answers in regards to that!
I am just wondering if the pill really does take immediate effect or not, like the packet says.
Thanks!

Why would I take the chance? See that's what I'm trying to figure out - how big is the chance?
I really don't know why, to tell you the truth. For some reason there's something in me that's really really craving it or something. I can't explain! It's weird though - we're both wanting it but we've got so many questions and/or concerns.

They've researched those instructions pretty well. If you started the pills when the instructions said to (when you have your period), and keep taking them properly, then you are protected right away.
If you start taking them at a different time in your cycle, then it is possible that you have already ovulated, in which case you have to wait until you have gotten rid of the egg (by having a period) before you are safe.
Pre-c*m can can contain hundred of thousands of sperm, semen contains hundreds of millions. It only takes one, which is why pulling out is a crap way of preventing pregnancy. You've been bloody lucky so far, but congrats for taking the step to usung birth control pills - it's much safer

The only way you would have IMMEDIATE protection from any BC pill would be if you used the 1st Day Start method (this is where you start taking your pills on the first day of your period).
Otherwise, you MUST wait at least two weeks for contraceptive protection to be effective.
Is it really worth the risk? You've been using an alternate method of BC for this long, would 2 or 3 more weeks REALLY make a difference at this point? Think about it....

As far as i've been told by my doctor when i started on the pill, you are supposed to use another method of b/c for the first month to make sure that they will start having an effect. I think part of that is to get your body on a regular cycle. I would guess that if you ovulate before your body gets used to the pill, you could get pregnant that way, and that's why. But I'm no expert and haven't dealt with this type of pill. You really need to talk to your doctor about it, instead of taking a chance and listening to the people on Answers. Wouldn't want to get pregnant just because you didn't ask the right person...

Hey,
Most often premature ejaculation occurs in younger men, but it can affect men of all ages. There could be a number of different reasons for the problems, both physical and psychological. The good news is that there are certain solutions available that have proven effective, such as the Ejaculation Trainer (see site here http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=565), which can show a man how to develop permanent ejaculation control. By successfully addressing a man’s ejaculation concerns and teaching him how to control it, he will quickly become more confident and both he and his partner will be much more satisfied.
Have a nice day

Ejaculation can be considered premature when it occurs 30 seconds to 4 minutes into sex, depending on different cultures, countries and experts. Behavioural techniques can help you delay orgasm. Learn here https://tr.im/XBD4J
These include the start-and-stop method and the squeeze technique. A combination of these techniques along with sexual counselling and medication (either using an anaesthetic cream or an oral tablet) is recommended.

So, really think about this......Why would you want to even take the chance unless you actually wanted to get pregnant?
And just because you don't think that he has never "cummed" inside you doesn't mean that he hasn't provided millions of sperm cells. The old "pull out" technique has never been very successful as a birth control method. Even the first clear lubricating liquid that comes out well prior to ejaculation is filled with sperm. You have just been lucky.

The packet may say that but you still should use extra protection. There have been pregnancies with the pill no matter what is said.

I personnally wait a week, before I let my boyfriend come in me, some people on here are just a bit paranoid, that's all. By the way I use those pills too, so just wait after the first week. Good Luck:)
