1) use a eyeshadow base....many makeup lines have this, which allows the eyeshadow to stay put and not crease, fade, and move
2) wet your brush, dip into your eyeshadow and then line your eyes...wetting your brush is like using a liquid eyeliner and allows your eyeliner to stay longer and have a more darker pigmented color

I used to use a angle brush also..now a smudge proof retractable pencial works...but to answer your question, you can first place some concealer or liquid foundation (small drop) on your eyelid before you put on the shadow. It works. (Let dry first) Don't feel bad I was a tomboy too and didn't start wearing make up until I was 19.

If you are putting shadow at your lash line, it is probably going to smudge. As a general rule, the more money you spend on make-up, the less it smudges! It sounds like you are going for a look that is best achieved with liquid black eyeliner or a very sharp pencil. good luck

Beware of wetting eyeshadows as water can grow bacteria over time and cause infection. I agree with the prior posting involving using MAC or Chanel. Liquid can be difficult, so you may want to try one of the newer gel-based liners in a pot. The application is very similar to using a powder and most are waterproof! I know MAC and Bobbi Brown both make one. Good luck!

A liquid or pencil liner is a better option. But if you must use eyeshadow, then I suggest you go for a better brand, like MAC or Chanel. Their products are highly pigmented, so you won't have to apply a lot of it to achieve the desired effect. And the less you use, the less it'd smudge.

I use makeup Primer & a waterproof eyeliner (liquid) on my eyes. It works! no smudging even with eye shadow. But i heard if you have an oily face and on the eye lids you can get transparent powder. Hope this helped! =]

I had this prob too.... MAC Cosmetics sells eyeliner pencils that do NOT move. There's also whats called Paints. Its an eyeshadow base that keeps everything in place. I cannot put my makeup on without it. It comes in diff colors; It also enhances your lid color. I love them!
There's a lid primer made by Smashbox, Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay, and She Laq, a clear makeup sealer made by Benefit.

I have always found it helpful to lightly spritz my face with holding hairspray BEFORE allplying make-up. It helps it stay in place.

I like Avon self-sharpening eyeliner pencils. They are easy to apply and last ALL DAY LONG! You don't even need an Avon lady anymore. You can order them from the Internet. Just Google "Avon".
